Volatility index rises most in 4 months

The benchmark gauge of Indian option prices increased by the most in four months announcements before the start of quarterly corporate earnings this week. The India VIX Index jumped 11 per cent to 14.5 at the 3:30 pm close in Mumbai, the sharpest increase since May 26, after falling in the previous two sessions. The underlying CNX Nifty Index dropped 1.2 per cent to 7,852.40, the lowest level in six weeks, as trading resumed for the first time since October 1.
