Wipro is trading higher by over 2.4% at Rs 487 in noon deals on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), ahead of its entry into 50-share Nifty.

Indian software services exporter Wipro will replace Reliance Infrastructure in the NSE’s benchmark index Nifty effective September 27, the NSE said in a statement on Tuesday.

Earlier Wipro was excluded from the index on April 1, 2013 because of hiving off its non-IT business into separate company. The stock had been in the index from January 17, 2002.

The stock opened at Rs 474 and hit a high of Rs 490 on NSE. A combined 2.09 million shares change hands on the counter so far on NSE and BSE.
