Tata has launched the Zest in a new variant, which is the top-of-the-line XT, and it is now called as XTA. Earlier, the AMT was made available only in the mid-variant XM and the AMT was called as XMA. The top-of-the-line variant is called as XTA.

The Zest XTA gets features like touchscreen infotainment system with SD card reader, climate control, reverse parking sensors, smartphone enable navigation system, driver's seat height adjustment, LEDs and dual airbags. The Zest AMT is available on the 1.3-litre multijet engine that produces 89bhp of power and 209Nm of maximum torque.

The Zest AMT gets a five-speed transmission and the fuel efficiency of this combination is 21.58km/l, while the manual returns 20.65km/l. The manual is also available with a detuned engine of 75bhp from the same 1.3-litre Fiat multijet engine. The second engine on the Zest is the 1.2-litre turbo petrol, which is a part of the Revotron engine series. These are the recently developed petrol engines from Tata Motors and many more are due to come in the near future.

The Bolt also gets both these engines, however it doesn't get an AMT. As Tata Motors isn't able to meet the demands of consumers for the Zest AMT itself, due to limited supply from Magneti Mirelli (AMT supplier), the Bolt hasn't got AMT as an option on it. Magneti Mirelli has increased its production capacity and soon Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors will get more units monthly. The Italian supplier will also give out AMT units to Hyundai also, who will commence the production of i10 AMT as well.
