The Medical Superintendent of R.M.L. Hospital, Dr. H.K. Kar, on Friday said twelve cases of swine flu have been suspected so far out of which three were found positive, two have been discharged and one died.
"So far, we have admitted 12 suspected cases of Swine flu infection, out of which three were found positive, two have been discharged and one died," Dr. Kar said.
"The most important part is, this is just like any type of influenza infection. So, whenever you have developed any fever, cough or nasal discharge then you should isolate yourself at home and observe yourself. Normally, fever disappears without any treatment also. That we call as Category A," he added.
"Category B- the fever persists for some time more, may be more than seven days. In those cases, you must do the investigation and if it found positive then we give the treatment. The most important thing is that the patient should be isolated at home," he added.
Dr. Kar also urged all the patients and other members to wear masks so that the infection is not transferred.
A 42-year-old woman from Uttam Nagar succumbed to swine flu virus, made it the first death from the infection in the national capital for 2015.
The woman died on Tuesday. There are 22 persons currently suffering from the virus, including eight fresh cases, reported on Wednesday.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda had earlier asked the people not to panic. He said the hospitals are fully equipped to deal with swine flu cases.
The Health Department has started an orientation programme for the staff of all 22 designated hospitals, including five private-run hospitals.
These hospitals have been directed to follow the Health Ministry's guidelines for the treatment of swine flu.
