Senior lawyer H.S. Phoolka on Friday said that he would file an application seeking registration of cases against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler for money laundering and tampering of witnesses in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case

"The CBI informed the court that it has not registered any separate case against Jagdish Tytler on the basis of the two more offences which are made in the chargesheet, the closure report filed by the CBI. In the last date of hearing, we had argued that on the closure report filed by the CBI, two separate offences are made out. The court had asked the CBI to inform as to what action had been taken. So, today the CBI informed that no separate case has been registered on the basis of these two offences," Phoolka said.

"Now, we will file the application in the court seeking the registration of the cases against Tytler on the basis of these two offences," he added.

A Delhi Court had earlier directed the CBI to reply on allegations that Tytler tried to influence a witness in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case in which the agency has filed a closure report.

The 1984 anti-Sikh riots, which claimed the lives of almost 3,000 Sikhs, were triggered by the assassination of former prime minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984, by her two Sikh bodyguards.
