Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday made public the draft Bill seeking full Statehood to Delhi and commenced first-of-its-kind online public consultation exercise by inviting Delhiites to give their opinion on the constitutional status of the national capital.

"Delhi Govt has made a draft bill seeking full statehood status. We have uploaded the draft bill on our website, also welcome suggestions till June 30," said Kejriwal while addressing a press conference here.

According to reports, AAP has made available the draft on Delhi's statehood in public domain to invite suggestions and possible amendments, prior to sending the same to the Centre for consideration and thus build public pressure to table the bill in Parliament.

To attain statehood for the national capital was AAP's one of the most prominent promises made during the Assembly elections which swept it to power last year.

Kejriwal on April 30 took to the micro blogging site and announced that his government was ready with a draft Bill aimed at obtaining full-fledged Statehood for the Capital.

"Draft Bill for Statehood of Delhi ready. Will be soon placed in public domain for comments n suggestions from public (Sic.)," Kejriwal had tweeted.

Last year, the Kejriwal's idea of holding a referendum on the issue was dubbed unconstitutional by constitutional experts and later on was shelved.
