The opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party in Tamil Nadu has said senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member L.K. Advani may resign if the present logjam in parliament continues.
Advani again expressed his distress over the continuous disruption of parliament on Thursday.
"It is unfortunate that the parliament is not functioning. I think the government has to reach out and ensure that parliament functions smoothly. The onus falls on the government. Even Advani has expressed his displeasure over the logjam. He wouldn't mind resigning if this sorry state of affairs continues," DMK spokesperson Sarvanan told ANI.
He urged the Centre to ensure that at least parliament functions smoothly.
As the House was adjourned yesterday over the demonetisation issue, 89-year-old Advani urged Home Minister Rajnath Singh to speak to the opposition and restore order.
He said if former Prime Minister Vajpayee had been in parliament, "he would have been very sad."
Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the day following a continuous uproar over issues such as demonetisation, the plight of farmers and the Agusta Westland case.
