Pakistan flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi has downplayed the 'fining' incident after violating a team curfew ahead of their much-anticipated World Cup opener against arch-rivals India on Sunday in Adelaide.
Earlier in the week, eight of the Pakistan players, which also included former captain Afridi and opener Ahmed Shehzad, were fined 300 Australian dollars after they came late to their Sydney hotel.
Reflecting on the incident, Afridi said that there were restaurants that have clubs inside them, adding that nothing had happened as they went for food, and then came back, the BBC reported.
Afridi added that when media didn't have any news to show, they spread those kinds of rumours to get attention from people.
Pakistan will also play the West Indies, Zimbabwe, United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Ireland in Group B.
