After 14 years, The 'Maccabees' breaks apart

Rock band 'The Maccabees', best known for their tracks 'Toothpaste Kisses', 'Pelican' and 'Marks To Prove It', have announced their split after 14 years of being together.

The band took to the social media to announce the split and released a statement, writing, "A message to our fans.. With Love, The Maccabees x, reports the Independent.

"The decision has obviously been an incredibly difficult one, given that The Maccabees has been such a huge part of our lives until now We are very proud to be able to go out on our own terms, at our creative peak and off the back of the best and biggest shows we have ever done," the band said in a statement.

The statement further read as, "The five-piece group stressed there have "not been fallings out" and that they are "not leaving the group behind as a divided force. We are excited about the future and intend to move on, with some sadness, but with appreciation, affection and huge pride at the music we have made and all that we have achieved together. "There will be some farewell celebration shows announced in the near future."

The statement also detailed that the five members, Orlando Weeks, brothers Hugo and Felix White, Rupert Jarvis, and Sam Doyle would continue to make music but there are no concrete future plans at the moment.

The Maccabees rose to fame in 2007 with the release of their debut album 'Colour It In' and their last album, 'Marks to Prove It', was their first number one in the UK and recently they headlined Latitude festival.
