The ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Saturday said that the Congress Party politicizing the suicide of ex-serviceman Ram Kishen Grewal is not in the welfare of the country.

"Politicising this subject is not good for the country. The government has already announced OROP for all retired and ex-servicemen. Our minister has said that it will take another one or two months to complete all the procedures and it will reach every retired serviceman. So, there is no difference of opinion in that. We will do the best for the ex-servicemen," AIADMK leader Pon Radhakrishnan told ANI.

Finance Minsiter Arun Jaitley yesterday took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi saying it was an irresponsible behaviour on the part of a national leader to exploit the tragedy after the Congress vice-president accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lying about implementation of the One Rank, One Pension (OROP) scheme post the suicide of Grewal.

After meeting the ex-servicemen protesting at the Jantar Mantar here, Gandhi pointed out that the issue is not just about implementation of scheme, but giving justice to the soldiers.

He also alleged that the family members of Grewal were manhandled and abused by the police.
