Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth on Sunday held a Crisis Management Committee meeting on cyclonic storm Hudhud to discuss the current situation.
"We have been in touch with the state and have offered whatever help possible from the Centre.
The next stage will be restoration of critical resources and then rehabilitation will be taken care of. The intensity of the cyclone will reduce by 50 percent within six hours," said Seth.
Earlier today, a number of buildings were damaged in Vizag as the cyclonic storm made landfall in the city.
Five diving teams have been dispatched to Srikakulam and 10 teams to low lying areas in and around Vizag for rescue and relief operations.
Over 400,000 people have been reportedly evacuated from the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha till now.
