Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said that BR Ambedkar was the architect of modern India and the initiatives brought by him in the labour sector are still relevant today.
Attending a programme organized by the Labour and Employment Ministry to pay tributes to Dr Ambedkar to mark his 125th Birth Anniversary and 60th Death Anniversary here today, Singh said that the concept of Reserve Bank, Finance Commission, Employees Provident Fund and Employees State Insurance Corporation were given by Ambedkar, as he realised the importance of both capital and labour.
"In any country where capital is important in the economic system, there is also significance of labour. Dr.Ambedkar realised this truth and he tried his best for effecting labour reforms along with building institutions for capital distribution," Singh said.
The Home Minister also said that the present government was doing its best to fulfill the dreams of Dr Ambedkar and schemes like Pradhan Mantri JanDhan Yojana, Shramev Jayate, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana are initiatives in this direction.
Singh, as the Chief Guest at the conference on 'A tribute to Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar', also released a booklet on the occasion.
