Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that three districts in his state have become Open Defecation Free (ODF).

Naidu said that the next target for his government is to make five more districts ODF by year 2018.

Naidu further elaborated that as of now; almost 4000 villages are made ODF through construction of nearly 43 lakh toilets across the state since the launch of Swach Bharat Abhiyan.

The Chief Minister while participating in 'Swachta hi Seva' program said that in order to make all the households in the state have toilets, 43 lakh more toilets will be built and this target will be accomplished by October 2, 2018.

The Andhra Government has assigned this task to Swach Andhra Corporation, Ministry of Panchayat Raj and students.

The Chief Minister said that this will be an opportunity for students to learn lessons on cleanliness. Also, the students will be rewarded with Swach Senani titles and grace marks in their studies.

Naidu further said that waste management and sewage treatment are taken as priority by the government to protect water bodies from being polluted.

In order to make solid waste as waste wealth, he said 10 units will be built soon to produce electricity from waste.

At the end, he also made the students take the 'swachta' pledge.
