United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) leader Anup Chetia was on Monday sent to 14 days judicial custody in connection with a 1998 murder case.

Chetia was earlier sent to five days custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Earlier this month on 17th, Chetia was brought to Guwahati by the CBI on a transit remand and produced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate amid tight security.

Chetia was charged with illegally entering Bangladesh using a forged passport, possession of illegal foreign currency from 16 different countries and illegal possession of arms. He was also wanted by the Assam Police for various cases, including killing, kidnapping and extortion.

Chetia, who has been in Bangladesh since his arrest by the country's police in 1997, was handed over to India on November 11 following which he was arrested by the CBI in Delhi.
