The 22 Infantry Division of Indian Army's Grand Symphony band exclusively performed at Amity University Campus ahead of the 70th Independence Day celebration.
Over 100 band personnel put up a grand display. The performance by the Chief of Army Staff's Symphony Band and Striking Seven Tagra Assam Pipers left the audience enthralled and brought out the patriotic spirit.
General Officer Commanding 2 Corps, Lt. Gen M M Naravane, senior army officers and other prominent personalities,including Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group; Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools were among those present.
Addressing the gathering, Lt. Gen M M Naravane said the primary mission of Indian Armed Forces is to ensure safety, security and welfare of the country. He informed that the soldiers performing in the band were drawn from different units, regiments and cantonments.
Lt.Gen. Naravanne said the band normally performs at national-level functions and that this was the first time ever that the band had performed at a university.
The band performed on numerous musical compositions, including Vande Mataram, Nischay Apni Jeet Karun, Amazing Grace by John Newton, Kandhon se milte ha kandhe, Taqat watan ki humse hai composed by S D Burman, Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja and signiong off with 'Jai Ho'
The awestruck performance was not mesmerizing but also instilled the sense of Independence day fervor amongst Amitians who proudly sang and clapped along the patriotic songs. The band won wide acclaim for their musical virtuoso, well synchronized moves, swiftness and agility.
