The security has been strengthened across southern Assam, commonly known as Barak Valley and its 131 km long border with Bangladesh in view of the 68th Republic Day celebration.
Security measures were tightened across the valley and additional security forces have been deployed before vital installations.
Patrolling has been intensified in remote and hilly areas.
The nation will celebrate 68th Republic Day today and the main function will be organized at Rajpath in the national capital where President Pranab Mukherjee will take the salute of the parade.
