Assembly Elections 2014: BJP leading by 100 in Maharashtra, 48 in Haryana

As the counting of votes for assembly elections is underway in Maharashtra and Haryana, the results so far predict and suggest a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) win in both states. cording to the latest trends, the BJP is leading in 93 seats in Maharashtra and 48 in Haryana.

While voting trends in Haryana indicate a clear cut majority win for the BJP, the party is engaged in a contest with the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. The latter is currently in second position with 52 seats.

The Congress is in third position in Maharashtra on 41 seats, while Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is lagging behind on 33 seats.

In Haryana, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is currently placed second with 21 seats, while the Congress Party, which has ruled the state for ten years, is leading in only 17 seats.

Counting of votes for assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana began at 8 a.m., and final results are expected by this afternoon.

In Maharashtra, the counting of votes is taking place in 269 locations, while in Haryana, it is being carried out at 57 places.

Elections for 288 member Maharashtra Assembly and 90 member Haryana Assembly were held on Wednesday. While 4,119 candidates, including 276 women, were in the fray for Maharashtra Assembly, 1,351 contested Haryana Assembly polls.
