As many as 19 people were killed and more than 100 were wounded after flash flooding in southern and western parts of Iran.
Citing Fars News Agency, Al Jazeera reported that the government has urged people to cancel trips warning of more rains.
The Interior Ministry also advised the citizens to cancel their trips and take the warnings seriously with the Disaster Management Organisation sending nationwide text messages.
"There were only two sets of 15-minute heavy rainfalls that caused the flood to spread through the city. The number of casualties would have been less, had people avoided staying there or leaving as soon as they saw the flood coming," a resident from Shiraz, the worst-affected city, told Al Jazeera.
Meanwhile, Iran's Meteorological Organisation has put 12 provinces on high alert until Wednesday predicting a higher chance of flood due to heavy rains across the nation.
