Australia have retained Peter Nevill as their wicketkeeper ahead of Brad Haddin in the third Ashes Test against England, which starts from Thursday at Edgbaston.
The 29-year-old was roped in as a replacement for Haddin in Australia's series-levelling Lord's Test victory, which the latter had to miss due to personal reasons.
Nevill performed brilliantly at Lord's as he claimed seven catches on debut and also scored a first-innings 45. In addition, Nevill was given the responsibility of taking charge as keeper in the subsequent tour match at Derby.
Commenting on the selection of the wicketkeeper, captain Michael Clarke confirmed that selectors have chosen Nevill ahead of Haddin. He said that Nevill made the most of his opportunity in the second Test by batting well and keeping exceptionally well, the Guardian reported.
Clarke added that Haddin is still working hard and would grab the opportunity with both hands if anything comes up.
