World champions Australia thrashed minnows France 10-0 in their opening encounter in the Hockey World League semi-finals.
Siblings Kieran and Blake Govers both scored twice while Chris Ciriello, Jamie Dwyer, Matt Gohdes, Simon Orchard, Jacob Whetton and Eddie Ockenden scored one goal each and contributed to the onslaught, fih.ch reported.
It was a clinical performance from Australia and was the perfect way for Fergus Kavanagh to enjoy and celebrate his 200th international appearance.
Jubilant with the victory, Australia's Matthew Swann said that it was a great start and the team was very well prepared for the tournament.
Earlier, Australia's women also had a wonderful start to the tournament, defeating Poland 9-0.
