Australia wins back Ashes from England

Australia defeated England in Perth convincingly to regain the Ashes they lost in 2009. The victory gives Australia an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the series with two games left.

Australia needed five wickets to win back the urn today. They eventually bowled England out for 353, claiming a 150-run victory, but the visitors' remaining batsmen at least made them work for it.

Ben Stokes, playing just his second Test, advanced quickly from his overnight score of 72 not out to post his first Test century.

England find themselves battling hard to save the Ashes after ending Day 4 of the Perth Test at 249/5 chasing a target of 504 runs, with Ben Stokes doing a good job of maintaining the flow of runs.

Earlier, Australia declared their innings at 369/6 to set up a humongous chase for England.

George Bailey equaled Brian Lara's record of most runs in a Test over as he struck 28 off an over of James Anderson.

For the visitors, Michael Carberry made 31; Kevin Pietersen made 45 while Ian Bell made a quick 60 run-knock before falling to Peter Siddle.
