The Government of Bangladesh has blocked social networking sites Twitter, Skype and Imo, three days after a 22-day ban on Facebook was lifted.

According to The Daily Star, Facebook, Viber and WhatsApp were blocked on November 18, soon after prominent opposition leaders, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed, were executed for war crimes committed during the Liberation War of 1971.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) asked all mobile phone operators and telecom service providers, in a letter, to suspend the services immediately, said a top official of a mobile phone operator.

BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood said, explaining the actions, that they only followed the instructions of the government.
