B-Town lauds Windies' flamboyant WT20 win

After West Indies pulled off a sensational run-chase by thumping England by four wickets in front of an electric crowd at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata yesterday, B-Town took to their social media handles to salute the team for their second World Twenty20 victory.

The Shehenshah of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan termed the Windies to be the 'True Champions' in his blog post.

"The West Indies did it ! And did it with the style and flamboyance that they are renowned for ! True CHAMPIONS are made of such stuff ; to come back from adversity and prove the world wrong .The Windies .. what a country and what a fun loving relaxed community !" he wrote.

Big-B applauded their Under-19, Women's World T20 victory.

"And not just this WC T20 .. they won the Under 19, they won the Womens and now the Mens .. that is no small achievement !!" he added.

The 'Wazir' actor did not stop here. He even took to his Twitter handle to cheer for for the men and women team of West Indies.

"????? ?? ?? ???? ??? ?? ... (uprooted)!! True CHAMPIONS the West Indies !! 3 in a row .. under 19, Womens and now Mens .. UNBELIEVABLE !," he tweeted.

Celebs like Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Varun Dhawan and others too took to their Twitter handles to lauds Windies' achievement.

"What a spectacular close to an amazing season! #WT20Final did not disappoint & Team #WestIndies put up a killer show of sportsmanship!," wrote Anil Kapoor.

"What a day for West Indies! Men win #WT20Final after the Women's team! Congratulations! @henrygayle @westindies," tweeted Irrfan Khan.

"This is cricket!!!! #WorldCupFinal #WT20Final #WestIndies," read Varun Dhawan's tweet.

"Champi-On!! West Indies #WT20Final #ENGvWI," wrote Farhan Akhtar.

"What a brilliant final. #WestIndies the true Champions. Congratulations. My second favourite team. #WT20," tweeted Arjun Rampal.

"Congratulations #WestIndies for the awesome victory. Great innings by Samuels and what a finish by Brathwaite. Well deserved. #WT20Final," said Madhur Bhandarkar.

"Gooooo windiessssss! Championss! And Yes ... a whole lotta brains & balls to match Sir ! #ICCWT20 #WT20Final," read Masaba Gupta's tweet.

"Wow what a last over & what a finish Congrats to the #WestIndies team4 winning the #WT20Final It sure was a thrilling game of cricket Ting!," tweeted Preity Zinta.

"Respect to the West Indies! England fought well but Brathwaite is a hero Under 19s, Women and now the Men WI are indeed champions #WT20Final," wrote Soha Ali Khan.

"TRUE CHAMPIONS!!! Unbelievable run chase again!! Well done WEST INDIES! Such amazing spirit they play with! TOTALLY DESERVING #WT20Final," read Aftab Shivdasani's tweet.

"Well played the #WestIndies And I hope Lendl @54simmo considered buying a lottery ticket as well today," said Atul Kasbekar.

Chasing a challenging target of 156, West Indies crossed the finishing line with two balls remaining, thanks to Marlon Samuels (85 not out) and a late flourish from Carlos Brathwaite, who smacked 34 off mere 10 balls, including four consecutive sixes in the last over off Ben Stokes.

Samuels was adjudged as the Player of the Match, while India's star batsman Virat Kohli was awarded the Player of the Series for scoring a staggering 273 runs in his five games.
