Acharya Balkrishna of Patanjali on Saturday said it was yoga guru Baba Ramdev's 'moral responsibility' to visit their food and herbal park where a clash had led to the death of
one person.
He also criticized the irresponsible statements made by political parties on the incident.
"After the May 27 incident, honorable Swami Ramdev, being a senior member of the Patanjali family, considers it as his moral responsibility to visit the place of the clash and sort things out. If he had not gone there, then crores of people would have asked why Swamiji did not visit the place despite such a mishap," Acharya Balkrishna said in a statement.
"Swamiji went there, explained to people and appeased them. He arranged the ambulance, sent the injured people to the hospital and stopped the situation from worsening. Some people are making
irresponsible statements over this matter; they are only trying to get political benefit out of this," he added.
On Thursday, a local court in Haridwar had rejected the bail plea of yoga guru Baba Ramdev's brother Ram Bharat and sent him to 14 days judicial custody in connection with the clash.
Ram Bharat was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday after a trucker was allegedly killed by gunshot wounds during a clash between security guards of the food park run by Patanjali and members of a transport union in Haridwar.
The clash had reportedly erupted after the local transporters gathered outside the food park's gate in protest against the firm engaging truck operators from outside of Haridwar for transporting products to market.
