Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu- starrer 'Badla', opened to good reviews and cruised past the Rs 50 crore mark in the second weekend of its release.

The thriller has so far collected Rs. 56.70 crore at the box office. Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest box office figures on his Twitter handle, also revealing that 'Badla' has beat Brie Larson-starrer 'Captain Marvel' in the second weekend with a good margin.

He wrote, "#Badla is unstoppable and unshakable... Collects more than #CaptainMarvel in Weekend 2 [in fact, #Badla leads by a big margin]... Power of solid content... [Week 2] Fri 4.05 cr, Sat 6.60 cr, Sun 8.05 cr. Total: Rs 56.70 cr. India biz. Gross BOC: Rs 66.90 cr."

Declaring the film a "hit", Taran also shared a break-up of the movie's business week-wise. He wrote, "#Badla biz at a glance... Week 1: Rs 38 cr Weekend 2: Rs 18.70 cr Total: Rs 56.70 cr India biz. HIT."

At the box-office, 'Badla' is facing tough competition from the Hollywood flick 'Captain Marvel'.

'Badla' revolves around a murder mystery, where Taapsee's character becomes the primary suspect after she is found with her boyfriend's dead body and money in a locked room. Amitabh plays a successful lawyer, who has to defend and save her by solving the mystery.

This is Big B's second collaboration with Taapsee after the critically acclaimed 'Pink'.

Reportedly, the Sujoy Ghosh directorial is a remake of 2016 Spanish film 'The Invisible Guest', which was directed by Oriol Paulo.

The murder mystery has been widely shot in Scotland. It also stars Manav Kaul and Amrita Singh in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Shah Rukh Khan under his banner Red Chillies Entertainment along with Azure Entertainment.
