Rising Pune Supergiants star batsman George Bailey, who was struck over a helmet by Delhi Daredevils' Nathan Coulter-Nile bouncer in the Indian Premier League clash, has said it was like a 'hit on the face with a truck'.
The former Australian T20 skipper walked away from a major blow when Coulter-Nile delivered a ball in the seventh over that deflected off Bailey's top-edge and struck into the grille of the helmet,Sport24 reported.
The impact of the bouncer was so strong that Bailey's helmet got partially disintegrated and fell just to the sides of the stumps.
Reflecting on the incident, Bailey said he was glad to have one of those mandated British Standard helmets on.
He revealed it was clearly visible that some of the opposition's players were disappointed to see helmet not rolling on to the stumps.
Following the hit, Coulter-Nile was seen apologizing Bailey, under whom the Australian pacer made his T20 debut in 2013.
Earlier, Cricket Australia had mandated British Standard helmet against pacemen in the wake of Test batsman Phillip Hughes' death after being knocked by a bouncer during a domestic match in Sydney in November 2014.
