Spanish champions Barcelona has swept into the quarter-finals of the Champions League following a comfortable 2-1 victory over Premier League rivals Manchester City on Wednesday at Camp Nou.
The Catalan giants won their last 16, second leg clash to complete a 4-1 aggregate victory and thus joined holders Bayern Munich, compatriots Atletico Madrid and French giants Paris Saint-Germain as the first four quarter-finalists.
According to Sport24, the hosts took a second-half lead with the help of star player Lionel Messi, although City, which sent off full-back Pablo Zabaleta, equalised a minute from time following a goal by captain Vincent Kompany.
However, the report mentioned that Dani Alves snatched an injury time winner, leading the hosts to cruise closer to the Champions League finals.
