BCCI congratulates Team India for winning T20 WC for Blind

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has congratulated the Indian Cricket Team for successfully defending the Blind T20 World Cup title.

India registered a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Pakistan in the final held yesterday at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would like to congratulate the Indian Cricket Team for successfully defending the Blind T20 World Cup title," the board said in a statement.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sports Minister Vijay Goel, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag also congratulated the Indian Blind Cricket Team on their amazing feat.

"Delighted that India won the Blind T20 World Cup. Congratulations to the team. India is proud of their accomplishment," Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter.

"Nothing is impossible & Team India proved it once again by winning the #BlindWorldT20! Fantastic!!" tweeted Tendulkar along with the picture of the victorious Indian team.

"Congratulations to our #OtherMenInBlue on winning the T20 World Cup for the Blind. They have lit up smiles for a billion people," said Sehwag.

Having won eight of the nine matches, India were tournament favourites and they lived to their top billing. Needing 198 runs to clinch the title, India chased down the target without much trouble.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted a respectable total of 197-9 on the scoreboard, with Badar Munir smashing 57 off 37 balls including eight boundaries and a six during the way.

For the hosts, Ketan Patel and Md. Jaffar Igbal scalped two wickets each while Sunil R and Ajay Kumar Reddy chipped in with a wicket each.

Man of the Match Prakash Jayaramaiah struck 99 and Reddy scored 43 as the two shared an opening stand of over 100 runs before Kumar was run-out. Earlier, Ketan Patel and Jaffer Iqbal picked two wickets each.

The two teams had clashed in the inaugural edition in 2012 as well with India emerging victorious.
