'Belligerent' Pyongyang now wants to create 'atmosphere of reconciliation' with South

North Korea has written a letter to the South, saying it is determined to 'create an atmosphere of reconciliation and unity'.

The North's National Defense Commission wrote an open letter to the South also vowing to work to 'completely halt hostile military acts, realize the reunion of separated families and relatives, and re-energize multi-faceted north-south cooperation and exchanges'.

According to CNN, but the North has asked that the peace proposals could proceed if an upcoming U.S.-South Korea military drill is stopped and defending its own 'precious nuclear force for self-defense'.

South Korean Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Eui-do said that his government is working on a response to the letter.
