Benami property case against Lalu and family referred to Adjudicating Authority

The Benami property case against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav and kin has been referred to the Adjudicating Authority on Tuesday.

The Adjudicating Authority will examine all documents and evidences and then pass an order on whether or not to hold the property as Benami.

The Income tax raids and searches in the regard are over.

14 properties, including two in Delhi and 12 in Patna are attached under the Benami Transactions Act.

According to investigation report of IT department, a farm house in Bijwasan, Delhi whose beneficiary are Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar---Mishail Packers and Printers Pvt. Ltd. are the Benamidars of the same assets.

The market value of the farm house is Rs 40 Cr but the book value of the same has been mentioned Rs 1.4 Cr.

The second property-- a Bungalow in New Friends Colony, AB Exports is the Benamidar of this property but ex-Bihar deputy chief minister Tejasvi Yadav, his sisters Chanda and Ragini Yadav are the beneficiaries of the same.

Market value of the bungalow is Rs 40 Cr but the book value has been mentioned Rs 5 cr.

The remaining 12 plots are in Jalapur and Patna. Delight Marketing Pvt. Ltd. and A.K. Info systems are the Benamidars of all these plots but Lalu's wife Rabri Devi and his son Tejasvi are beneficiaries of the same.

Market value of all these plots collectively is approximately Rs 85 Cr but there book value is only Rs 3.5 cr.

The IT department had conducted raids and surveys at about 22 locations in Delhi and adjoining areas in connection with alleged benami deals of Rs 1,000 crore by Lalu's family.
