Bibek Debroy takes over as member NITI Aayog

Renowned economist Bibek Debroy on Wednesday took over as member of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog here.

A professor at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi, Debroy has also worked at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies and has held the posts of Union Finance Ministry consultant in various capacities and High Powered Committee on Railways Restructuring chairman.

Born on 25 January 1955, Debroy has authored several books, papers and articles on economic issues.

The NITI Aayog has been established by the Government to function as both a think tank and a policy forum replacing the Planning Commission.
