Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday criticized the BJP-led government at the Centre for not controlling the skyrocketing prices of onions, saying the people are suffering as no effective steps are being taken.

"These things (price rise) continue to take place. No work is being done (by the Centre) and the people are suffering," he told the media here.

The wholesale onion prices today rose to Rs. 57 per kg at Lasalgaon in Maharashtra, which is Asia's biggest onion market.
