BJP announces Chitrakoot assembly bypoll candidate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday named Shankar Dayal Tripathi as its candidate for Chitrakoot assembly by-election in Madhya Pardesh.

The bypoll in the constituency is being held post the death of MLA Prem Singh.

The elections in the regard will be held on November 9.

Prem Singh who was a member of Congress passed away after prolonged illness on May 29 this year. Singh was a three-time MLA from Chitrakoot, from where he had won in 1998, 2003 and 2013.

Singh was 65-year-old at the time of his death.

On the other hand, Congress has pitted Nilanshu Chaturvedi against Tripathi.
