The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has written to the Election Commission (EC) to say that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by making personal remarks against its prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi and other leaders.
BJP leaders reached the election commission office on Wednesday to file their complaint against Gandhi and Congress party's unit in Madhya Pradesh for making verbal attacks on Modi and on the family of one of their leaders.
"They are trying to show their presence by hatching conspiracies. We have demanded the election commission that they should take strict action regarding two of our complaints against Rahul Gandhi and Congress party in Madhya Pradesh," said BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
Earlier, EC had issued notice to Rahul Gandhi for violating the MCC through his communal" remarks at rallies in Rajasthan and adhya Pradesh in October.
The poll body advised Gandhi to be more circumspect in his public utterances.
