Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Jitendra Singh, on Monday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has always followed a policy of zero-tolerance towards terrorism, and added, that there has been absolute clarity, consistency and conviction in pursuing this policy.
"As far as we are concerned in the Bharatiya Janata Party, we have always followed a policy of zero-tolerance towards terrorism and there has been an absolute clarity, consistency and conviction in this
policy regardless of whether we were in power or not in power," Singh told ANI here.
"And, therefore, I think nobody should have any doubt as far as our approach towards terrorism and terrorist incidents are concerned," he added.
Singh, who was commenting on today's incident of a militant attack on a telecom company outlet in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla District, said both the state government and the Centre are capable enough of dealing with such a situation.
"As far as today's incident is concerned, I am sure the state government as well as the central government both are capable enough of dealing with a situation like this," he said.
Three people were injured when the militants opened firing on the franchisee of BSNL at Iqbal Market in Sopore. The injured are being treated at a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the security forces have cordoned off the area.
Today's attack follows the orders issued by the militants to all telecommunication companies to close down their operations in Sopore for providing intelligence inputs to the security agencies.
