In the wake of the ongoing controversy over some Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders making outrageous comments on the Ram Temple issue, Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao on Monday asserted that the government must take serious action against those attempting to hurt the members of other communities with their unwarranted assertions.
"You want to build up you can build up. Who stopped? You got absolute majority instead of that you are giving ultimatum to other communities," he told ANI.
"Today I saw that they are giving ultimatum to other communities, this is absolutely wrong in democracy," Rao added.
Accusing the BJP leaders of attempting to counter the members from the other communities, Rao said, "On one side you will say we have got the highest respect for judiciary, on the other side you are giving bad statements from your MLAs. They want to counter the other community people. This is not the way. They are giving emotional issues."
Rao further appealed to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Telangana Deputy General of Police (DGP), Anurag Sharma to take some firm action to maintain law and order situation in the state ahead of the procession tomorrow on the eve of Hanuman Jayanti.
BJP MLA from Hyderabad, Raja Singh, had earlier said that he would behead those opposing the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
"Some people are saying that they will create ruckus if Ram Mandir is built in Ayodhya. I welcome the ones who are warning of dire consequences. We have been waiting for years to behead such traitors," the MLA said while addressing a public gathering on Thursday.
Singh, who represents Goshamal constituency in the Hyderabad Assembly, is known for his right wing activities and has also been arrested multiple times.
The Supreme Court had observed that Ayodhya dispute is a "sensitive" and "sentimental" issue, adding that the matter should be settled amicably.
Since then, various right-wing leaders have been campaigning for the temple to be built.
