Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha election in Sikkim in alliance with the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), announced party's General secretary Ram Madhav on Friday.
"Sikkim Krantikari Morcha is the main opposition party in Sikkim. The president and MLAs of the party came down to Delhi yesterday and met BJP President Amit Shah. Today, together with our state party leaders, they came to meet me and finalised the understanding between BJP and SKM," Madhav told ANI while sharing the details of the decision.
"We have decided that both parties should fight the upcoming Parliament and Assembly elections together in Sikkim. Remaining details like seat sharing will be worked out in the next couple of days," Madhav added.
The state of Sikkim has one parliamentary constituency, Sikkim, which covers the entire area of the state.
