Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is conspiring against its chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi and added that the saffron party will eventually put the blame on her for their defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections.
"Even surveys are saying that the AAP is going to form a government in Delhi. The BJP is afraid, they are fighting within themselves. Some BJP leaders had called me, they told me not to worry because they will make sure that Kiran Bedi loses," said Kejriwal at an election rally here.
"I told them that why would I worry when they are there. When the results of the Delhi polls will be declared on February 10, the media will ask the BJP the reason for their loss and they will put the blame on Kiran Bedi," he added.
Kejriwal further said that Bedi should have joined the AAP instead of a 'corrupt' BJP.
"I respect Kiran Bedi a lot, she is like my elder sister. We participated in the movement against corruption together. She is not able to understand the BJP's conspiracy. What was the need for her to join the BJP just before polls? If she wanted to join a party then she should have joined the AAP which is an honest party. Why did she join such a corrupt party?" he added.
The BJP, which hopes that the wave in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi works in Delhi also, has announced the former top cop as its chief ministerial candidate.
The assembly elections in Delhi are scheduled to be held on February 7 while the counting of votes will take place on February 10.
All the major political parties are in the fray, including the AAP, BJP and the Congress.
