Blame game for uproar in Bihar Assembly begins between JD-U and BJP

Following a scuffle between members of the Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Bihar Assembly yesterday, both parties began a blame game, accusing each other of resorting to violence.

JD (U) legislator Sanjay Singh demanded strict action against BJP leaders, accusing them of initiating the episode.

"It is the fault of BJP leaders, I said every member has the right to speak, but every member does not have a right to attack someone. I demand the honourable council chairman to take strict action against such members, watch the recording and punish the culprits," said Singh.

Meanwhile, a BJP legislator, Mangal Pandey, accused JD (U) of suppressing the voice of opposition leaders.

" The manner in which the leaders of the ruling party (JD U) acted, it seemed they were almost ready to hold an attack on opposition leaders. Some members intervened and prevented physical violence," said Pandey.

The ruling party has the majority of members and based on that majority, they want to suppress the voice of opposition and today (on Thursday) they wanted to hold an attack on the opposition party. All of this took place under the instructions of Nitish Kumar. Hence, NDA as decided to boycott the State Assembly," he added.

According to media reports, the ugly episode took place in the presence of top leaders, Sushil Kumar Modi of BJP and Nitish Kumar of JD (U).

Senior BJP leader, Sushil Kumar Modi reportedly rushed into the well of the house as Sanjay Singh made controversial and taunting remarks about him.

During the uproar that ensued, Chairman of the council, Awdesh Narayan Singh, adjourned the house and left the spot.

Reportedly, a scuffle broke out between the two legislators soon after the adjournment.
