At least eight people were killed and a senior judge injured in bomb blast here on Wednesday.
Police said Sindh High Court judge Justice Maqbool Baqir was on his way to the court when his security convoy was attacked. Several people were wounded in the incident, the reponsibility for which was claimed by the Pakistan Taliban.
Justice Baqir is said to be in serious condition at a hospital in the city.
Karachi has been in the grip of ethnic, sectarian and political violence for some weeks now.
Police said the bomb was attached to a motorcycle and was so powerful that it damaged nearby shops.
