The Bombay High Court will hear Bollywood actor Salman Khan's appeal against his conviction in the 2002 hit-and-run case and his plea for bail today.
Advocate Amit Desai will appear for Salman's bail application in the court. Salman himself, however, is not expected to appear.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened outside the actor's Galaxy Apartments residence in the Bandra area of Mumbai. On Wednesday, a Mumbai Sessions Court found Salman guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced him to five years imprisonment in connection with the 2002 hit-and-run case, when he drove his SUV into American Bakery. In the process, he ran over 5 people sleeping on the pavement, killing one and injuring four others.
However, the Bombay High Court granted him a two-day interim bail since he had not yet received a stamped copy of the Sessions Court judgement.
