Brit engineer turns old theory about how pyramids were built on its head

A British engineer has stunned archaeologists by claiming that their theories on how ancient Egyptians built pyramids were wrong.

Peter James said that he believes that they created the structures by piling up rubble on the inside and then later attaching bricks, the Mirror reported.

James' claim has challenged hundreds of years of accepted belief that the huge structures were built with giant blocks carried up huge ramps.

The structural engineer said that what original theory proposes in impossible, as the ramps for this kind of work would have to have been at least a quarter of a mile long to get the right angle for the bricks to be taken to such great heights.

James, who has studied pyramids for the past 20 years, said that if pyramids would have been built according to the current theory, there would still be signs of ramps there, but there aren't.
