British Museum records more than 6.5 million visits in 2013

The British museum announced its record annual numbers claiming more than 6.5 million visits in 2013 as against 5.9 million in 2008.

The announcement was made on the eve of its 255th anniversary of the British Museum opening to the public.

The museum recorded 6,701,036 visits as compared to its previous record of 5.9m in 2008 with 20 percent increase in the number of visitors in 2008, the Guardian reported

While 16 August turned out to be the busiest day of the year, July was reported to be the busiest month with 747,936 visits.
