Cathay Pacific has been titled the world's best carrier at the Farnborough International Airshow.
According to the CNN, the Hong Kong-based firm claimed the prestigious position on Tuesday after defeating Emirates, last year's winner. The victory is a first for the airline since 2009.
CNN's Jim Boulden felicitated a delegate from Cathay Pacific at the ceremony, the report added.
Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax said that the airline was the 'best performer' across all categories of travel and was therefore named the best carrier for the year 2014. Cathay Pacific Chairman, John Slosar also congratulated the team on the victory, the report added.
Cathay Pacific was followed closely by Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines. Emirates on the other hand slipped to the fourth position this year.
Millions of travelers across the world vote to pick the winner every year.
