Charles Dickens' former home in Kent, Higham, where he wrote his famous classic novels 'Great Expectations' and 'A Tale of Two Cities', will soon be opened to the public, it has been revealed.

The Grade I listed Georgian property will have its first ever public visitors since his death in 1870, the BBC reported.

The publication revealed that Gad's Hill Place has been used as a school for the past 90 years, but now the students are moving into new buildings since "the old building can no longer keep up with the demands of modern day education".

Dickens' Head study was used by the school's head teacher, David Craggs, as his office and the original living rooms were turned into classrooms.
