A senior Chinese diplomat has said that the country will form a new type of relationship with the United States, with Asia as "the starting point".
According to the China Daily, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao said that there was a major increase in the gaming and competition by major world players in Asia.
Liu said that both the countries had their common interest in Asia where many contradictions and divergences lie.
The new ties would require deep thought and cautious policy choices with both sides meeting halfway, said the diplomat.
He also said that both countries would require to respect each other's interests and concerns.
