AAP, CPI seek action against culprits; victim's family meets Akhilesh

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence on the Dadri lynching incident.

AAP leader Ashutosh said that Prime Minister Modi should assure the nation that no one would be murdered in future for choosing to consume a particular kind of food.

 

"A person has died in Dadri and today is the sixth day. Now, the Prime Minister should end his silence and speak on the matter. The whole nation is looking at him, the people want assurance that no one would be murdered in this country again for eating a particular kind of food. I request the Prime Minister with folded hands to end his silence and meet the victim's family members," Ashutosh told ANI.

CPI leader D Raja echoing similar sentiments said that the Prime Minister must act against those violating the Constitution.

"Prime Minister Modi should speak out, why is he not saying anything on such matters. He must speak out as the Prime Minister of the country. His job is to uphold the Constitution and values enshrined in the Constitution," Raja said.

"These right wing organisations are coming out on the streets spreading hatred and the Prime Minister is not saying anything. We keep asking the Prime Minister to act against those people who violate Constitution of this country," he added.

Meanwhile, the family members of the Dadri lynching victim Mohammed Akhlaq, who was murdered for allegedly possessing beef in his house, met the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister today.

Yadav had earlier announced a compensation of Rs. 20 lakh to the kin of 50-year-old Akhlaq.

The Chief Minister had also assured justice to the family of Akhlaq.
