After securing a two-thirds majority and a hat-trick of wins in assembly polls for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has vowed to bag maximum number of seats from his state for the BJP in next year's Lok Sabha elections.

Chouhan led his party to a spectacular tally of 165 seats in the 230-member assembly, 22 seats more than last time.

The Congress suffered a huge defeat with its tally coming down to 58 from 71 seats. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) got four seats and independents three.

A humble Singh gave the credit for the third consecutive victory of BJP in the state to the organizational set-up and workers, saying, "Had anyone else also been there in his place, BJP would have won."

He also accused the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre of "discrimination with Madhya Pradesh" and noted that neither people in Delhi nor in Madhya Pradesh are ready to accept a Congress government.

"Our effort will be that when we fight the next Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of Narendra Modi, it should be Madhya Pradesh, which contributes the maximum number seats among all states to form a government at the Centre.

"We will not spare any efforts to achieve it. We will work to the maximum to achieve this," he added.

He said, "I express my gratitude to the party. This is BJP, which is getting a big work done by a small worker...Shivraj is an ordinary worker. The miracle is of the organization. Had there been any other worker in place of Shivraj, even then BJP would have won".

Chouhan described the result as "victory of the people".

He congratulated all senior BJP leaders, including Modi for the victory in Madhya Pradesh.

BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Modi had addressed a number of rallies in the state particularly in the last leg of the campaigning.
