Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke has ruled out his possible one-day return to the domestic cricket for NSW in this summer's Matador Cup.

Confirming the news, Cricket NSW spokesman said Clarke has decided against returning to elite cricket with the NSW Blues, news.com.au reported.

Clarke had informed the cricket club that he wouldn't be able to spend four months of fulltime lead-in training due to his other commitments.

Earlier in May, the 34-year-old had reportedly held discussions with the Blues about his potential one-day return in October.

The decision also means that Clarke would not feature in this summer's Sheffield Shield, but it is possible that he might return in the Big Bash League.

Clarke, who retired from all forms of cricket following the disastrous Ashes series in England last August, had returned to Sydney grade cricket with Western Suburbs in February before featuring in the Hong Kong Twenty20 tournament last month.
