Clarke sheds light on Haddin's omission from Ashes

Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke has revealed that chief selector Rod Marsh and coach Darren Lehmann had told him that they were leaning pretty strongly towards retaining Peter Nevill over Brad Haddin for the third Ashes Test against England.

Haddin ruled himself out of the second Ashes Test due to family reasons and was expected to make a comeback for the next match.

However, the selectors had decided to stick with his replacement Nevill for the rest of the series.

In his new book 'Ashes Diary 2015', Clarke said that Marsh hadn't informed Haddin about his decision when the latter had enquired about it during a practice session for Edgbaston Test.

The 34-year-old, however, said that Lehmann had informed Haddin about his preference for wicketkeeper-batsman Nevill, News.com.au reported.

Subsequently, Haddin called curtains on his international career following the Ashes series defeat against England.
